The Civil Society Assistance (“CSA”) Program is a USAID-funded program implemented by Counterpart International in Ecuador which aims to support, strengthen, and sustain the critical work of civil society organizations in increasing broad-based citizen engagement with national and local government. Counterpart will support a small group of experienced Ecuadorean civil society organizations (CSOs) to achieve this goal through the following objectives: 1) increase civil society engagement to promote transparency and accountability at the municipal and national levels; 2) expand citizen engagement with central and municipal government as allowed under Ecuadorean law, and 3) strengthen the technical and financial capacity of CSOs and in their efforts to establish mutual support networks and set examples of transparency and accountability to maintain CSOs’ independence.Within the scope of objective 3, Counterpart conducted a baseline Organizational Development (OD) assessment on three local CSOs in 2014, a mid-term assessment in 2016, and a final assessment in June 2019. This consultancy will provide follow-up support for the OD process in Ecuador, ensuring that the three partners successfully create sustainability plans that reflect the outcomes of the OD assessment.
Responsibilities
The Project is seeking one (1) local consultant to provide technical assistance and support to three local partner civil society organizations to create action plans and strategies with a focus on financial sustainability. The action plans should reflect the outcomes of their June 2019 OD assessments and include innovative ideas for the partner’s sustainability strategies. The consultant will be responsible for both remote and in-person support that will include but is not limited to the following:
Work with the organizations to outline their action plans and sustainability strategies
Review partner’s OD plans and provide feedback to them on how to include financial sustainability strategies
Support partner’s in identify financial sustainability actions and strategies
Review draft sustainability plans and providing technical inputs
Being available to answer questions from the organizations related to this consultancy, either through phone, email, or in person meetings
Qualifications
Requirements:
Local to Ecuador
Spanish speaker; English Proficiency
Experience in creating Financial Sustainability Plans
Minimum of five (5) years of experience working in non-governmental organizational programs
Experience working at or with civil society organizations in Latin America
Minimum of five (5) years experience developing sustainability strategies for non profit organizations
Familiarity with Microsoft suite of products, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
Preferred:
