Job overview:
We are looking for a frontend web engineer to join our team as we continue to deliver new products and improvements. As an engineer on our web team you will be part of a close-knit team that works on all of Reelgood’s various web/web-related products & TV Applications. You will be working closely with our product, design, mobile, and backend teams on similar projects.
Due to the size of our web team and rapid product & company growth you will have an enormous impact on the future of Reelgood.
Key responsibilities and outcomes:
- Support on-demand requests from other teams within Reelgood.
- Feature delivery - work with different technologies, languages & frameworks in all layers of the web stack, from front-end to cloud compute infrastructure.
- Ensuring the availability and reliability of our services in production.
- Work in an agile development environment (Kanban, iterative development, short release cycles).
- Optimizing the Javascript performance of large-scale, high volume systems.
- Code, Test, Review & Deploy!
What we use:
- React & Preact.
- SASS, CSS w/ Tailwind CSS.
- Redux, Next.JS, react-query, RxJS.
- AWS (EC2/Elastic Beanstalk/Lambda) & Vercel Products.

Qualified Candidates Will Possess:
- Junior/Mid-level software engineer with 2-5 years experience working either professionally or consistently working as a volunteer, with a focus on - or strong interest in front end web development.
- Strong communication and problem solving skills, must be proficient in English (both written and verbal).
- Confident and self-sufficient with different technologies, languages and frameworks in all layers of the web stack, from front-end to basic back-end. Including but not limited to React, CSS/SASS, Node.JS & Redux.
- Self-awareness, a positive attitude, a sense of humor, and empathy.
- Experience with modern browser technologies.
Nice to haves, experience with:
- Browser extensions.
- Cordova/Phonegap.
- Containers (Docker & Kubernetes).
- Wordpress.
- Other Javascript frameworks such as Angular, Backbone etc.
- WebSockets, Local Storage, or ES6.
